  • Leopard + Studio 2 – success stories?

Posted by Mark Palmos on November 30, 2007 at 11:36 am

    Hi
I just spoke to a fella who has his own FCP podcast series, he says leopard and Studio 2 are not a problem, as long as you do a clean install or at least and archive install.

I tried, but did not do a clean or archive install, and had big problems. I would like to move to Leopard particularly for putting XP on a space for apps I need that there are no Mac equivalent of… like Canopus Imaginate.

Has anyone there had success stories, particularly with using Motion templates in FCP?

    Thanks a bunch,
    Mark.

The motion templates work great now that Apple released the 10.5.1 update and additional FC Studio 2 updates. Before this they weren’t working at all. Just run your software updates.

So far, so good on an iMac doing DV editing only.

I think anyone with software plug-ins or capture cards should still be a litte cautious, but if you’ve got a really basic setup (firewire in/out, no 3rd party filters) then I think it’s ok at the moment.

Working great here with a BMD Decklink HD card.

Very happy with Leopard – it was worth the upgrade alone for the Quick Look feature a very easy way t look through files on your drives

    Thanks guys
And yep, Jeff, I will upgrade on my laptop only at the moment, and wait for AJA to deliver some Leopard drivers before I do the desktop… thanks again.

Does anyone know if Final Cut Studio (not FCS 2) works well on leopard?

[Nate Graham] “Does anyone know if Final Cut Studio (not FCS 2) works well on leopard?”

Its probably ok, but 4.5 is not compatible with leopard so says apple.

I would be leery about using FCP 5.x on Leopard. There’s a lot of variables involved, including the version of Quicktime. If you want to test it, make sure you clone your hard drive first.
