January 25, 2010 at 5:43 pmWell, the first question is what goal do you want to accomplish with a different lens?
It’s a fixed-lens camera so you’d have to use a 35mm lens adapter such as a Letus, plus the 35mm lenses of your choice. It’ll give you narrower depth of field for a more “filmic” look, but it will also eat up light.
There’s TONS of posts about this already here on the Cow, so search around and you’ll learn a lot.

January 25, 2010 at 10:34 pmI just want cool depth of field to make my videos better. The one that you get in canon 7d’s? DLSR have great depth of field. And I’m gonna use it in my short films.

In addition to the adapter, you need your actual lenses. If you’re on a budget, Nikon or Canon 35mm SLR still camera lenses are very popular. You’ll probably want a set of primes in different focal lengths, since zoom lenses are usually slower (use more light) and cause other problems with the DOF adapter.
There’s an EXCELLENT article on this subject right here on the COW, that you can read at this link. Check that out to answer any other questions you may have.

January 25, 2010 at 11:52 pmWould this 35mm canon/nikon lens be compatible with my camera? Like, will it fit the normal lens of the fx7?

January 26, 2010 at 12:02 amYou can’t attach a 35mm camera lens directly to your camera. You’ll need a addapter the most popular right now is made by Letus. https://www.letusdirect.com/ This fits onto a rod system and is mounted between your camera’s fixed lens and the 35mm prime lens you want to attach. Make sense?
