Lens Protection for EX3
Posted by Renny Mccauley on August 11, 2009 at 8:04 pmI want to purchase a clear glass protection filter for the EX3. I’m worried about it fitting behind the stock matte box. Does anybody know any specific filters that are thin enough to fit?
Thanks,

August 12, 2009 at 2:20 pmI have a standard UV filter screwed into ours. It must be removed to use the stock Sony wide angle adapter, as I found out in the dark last night while trying to capture the meteor shower. By the way, the results…not good. I got great stuff with my DSLR, but the EX3 was mostly noise. I was using slow shutter mode and 1-sec interval recording, iris slammed wide open and 6db gain.

August 12, 2009 at 3:06 pmI just had read some stuff that on the EX1 people tried to put filters on and couldn’t get the mattebox back on. Maybe it’s not an issue with the EX3.

August 12, 2009 at 8:20 pmI had a UV and CP filter on today and couldn’t get the stock attachment on. I didn’t try it with just the CP filter on it, but it looks like it would be a tight fit.
I also found out today that I can sprint through chest-high weeds pretty quickly with an EX3 and extended Miller tripod when an irrigation rig turns on me! I’m happy to report that I have dry gear and a wet van.
