Greetings, I have just begun to work with high definition projects in Final Cut Pro. I have just completed a 5 minute HD project., shot with a SONY Z1. There are two 2:30 sequences end-to-end. I have brought the sequence into Compression(set at DVD Best Quality 90 minutes) and started the process 20+ hours ago and it is still compressing with an estimated 12 hours until completion. I edit on a Powerbook, OSX with 2 GB Ram. I suspect it is lacking in power? Any insight is appreciated.

    Thank you.

What are the specs of your Powerbook?

You don’t give the speed of the processor which is kind of vital, but anyhow, your machine is going to run very very slowly with HD conversion but it should certainly have done that short job by now. Sounds like compressor has performed its usual ‘slow-down’ bug-trick.

Quit the job and compressor restart the Mac and try it again

    Daniel…# of CPU’s: 1; CPU Speed: 1.67GHz; Bus Speed: 167MHz

I am 85% compressed so I’ll probably ride it.

    Thank you.
