Legacy AJA IO Card (Kona 3)
A few questions about this card because I may be missing a couple steps.
Recently got the Kona 3. Works great for my workflow (HD editing in Avid 7.0.5 + Baselight Editions plugin). There’s a few quirks that I’d like to iron out.
Currently outputting to analog using a K3 box. Technically it works. I can output an NTSC signal (29.97) into my sony CRT NTSC monitor. This is a temporary set up before I get a proper 10 bit HD monitor, but for now I have a couple problems:
– I have to set output in Avid to 23.98 NTSC or 720p 23.98 in order for the downconvert to work. I had thought that it’s supposed to do a down conversion even if my timeline is 1080p 23.98
– in Final Cut Pro 7 (I will rarely use this but it’s compatible), I can only view real time playback on my viewer monitor on my desktop. The client monitor is paused and then just switches frame when I stop playback.
– In Lightworks (12.6) the motion is weird when using NTSC out from the lightworks. If I can figure out the 1080 downconvert to NTSC problem up above, it may mitigate this problem so Lightworks doesn’t do the work. The AJA Card does.
