  • Leave Time Machine backup drive connected?

Posted by Jason Tower on November 9, 2008 at 10:35 pm

Will I run into any performance issues with my Media 100 system if I leave the Time Machine backup drive connected to the system all the time?

This drive backs up only the internal system drive, I have a separate external drive to backup my RAID that I only hook up at the end of the day.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

    Hi Jason,

Aside from the usual “your mileage may vary” disclaimers, the set up you’re using should be fine. When it came out, we made some changes to accommodate Time Machine by no longer saving media folders at the root of the drive. It’s been out for a while now and thus far we haven’t traced any problems back to it’s use.
