Any chance a compressor will help with really loud leads in a musical?

If so, any starter settings? I am new to compressors.

Otherwise, I have a shotgun mic I can bring up but there is a lot of echo on it.

    Thanks in advace,

    Todd

PS, I mean the lead singers.

The ensemble and orchestra blended OK but the leads are a bit too loud.

Hello Todd and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum,

Compressors can pack a little, knocking back a bit of what’s sticking out, but what probably happening is the mic is in a bad position to pickup a better mix or the conductor has a weird sense of mix.

Try standing behind the conductor. See if the mix sounds any better.

    Regards,
