    Hello All-

Any insight into LCD TVs for a high-end Pro Tools rig? I need something with near-zero latency (won’t fall out of lip-sync). Any ideas would be great!

Last christmas I sat in on an audio sweetening session for the pilot of a new half hour TV series. The footage was shot in hi def 16:9 24P. The Pro Tools guy was using a Pioneer 50″ plasma. Nice.

The only catch with high-end flat-panel TVs and monitors is that there is usually a significant delay through the input processing circuitry. You’ll want some to do some testing, to get the timeline offset dialed in, and if you’re using a DV converter, you’ll never get consistent offset while looping..

The Syncheck is a great peice of gear for calibrating your offset, and a card like

the Aurora Fuse-X is a great option for outputting video to your new display. Fuse-X plays any QuickTime compression format from within any QT-compliant application without interference or interaction with the application.
