Layers?
From time to time I do something with my mouse that expands a track into two tracks with a separator between the tracks with a big “X”. And moves an event into that new ‘layer’. What am I doing? And, how do I undo it? Risking a big rant, I hate it when a menu item, “Expand Layers” for instance, cannot be found by a search in Vegas Help. What’s with that. IMO every menu word or phrase should be part of the search data base. Grrr. Thanks, I needed that.

I think Expand Track Layers is what you’re looking for.
The ESC key should get you back to normal.
