I am a little confused. I am creating an object in Zaxwerks and I am trying to give it a texture of a layered map. I am using AE 6.5pro Invigorator 4.04. I am on a PC. I created a timeline in AE with a PSD file and a blank solid. I import an AI file into Inviorator and make the PSD file layer map 1. I go into options
under materials and select from layer map 1. Drag the layer map object onto to my object. I click on OK and look at my results on AE timeline and I do not see the PSD Imager on my object. I know I must be doing something wrong, but I do not know what it is. Any assistance would be greatful. Thanks in advance.

There as been many many question like yours.

First of all, in Adobe Illustrator, make sure that Edit->Preferences->File Handing and Clipboard Preserve Paths is checked.

Second, when you save the file in AI, maybe you should try to save it as an AI File version 8. But I don’t think that’s the problem.

Third, the layer maps must be a .TGA file (or in AI), if it’s in JPEG or whatever, I don’t think it will work.

Oh and when you drag the layer map on your object, make sure it’s the “Ball” you pick and not the square with the color in it.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi,

Make sure your Invigorator layer is switched to best quality not draft mode or you won’t see your maps.
In the set-up window select your object and click on “Palette”. If you don’t see your material swatch this means that you didn’t apply it properly. If this is the case then just drag your swatch from the material editor to the palette.

You are using layer mapping so it is important that your layer map starts exactly at the same time then your Invigorator layer in the timeline or you won’t see it. This could be the second reason why you are having a problem.

Justin, You don’t need a TGA when you are using the layer mapping option. Saving to ai 8 is also only necessary if you are working with an old version of Invigorator.

    Salut.

Still not working. I am set to best quality and I am starting at the same time on the timeline.

    Hi,

By best quality you mean the dash icon for the invigorator layer in your timeline right?
Did you open the palette window? Is there any material swatch?
Did you select the right layer when assigning your layer map?
If you still have trouble send me the aep without psd at serge at nyc-visual dot com.

    Salut.
    Serge
