Say I have a number of layers in a preComp designated by either label color, or even stacking order (say they are always layers 1-3 in all preComps) Is there a way with expressions to control their visibility depending on the Compostion that the preComp lives in?

There’s no way for an expression to figure out what outer comp the expression’s precomp is in. It would have to know the name of the outer comp, which might not work for what you have in mind.

Thanks Dan. I just have a number of pre comps I have to lay out slightly different type weights in for HD / SD outputs. I was hoping that, depending upon the HD or SD comp that the preComp went into, expressions would either turn on the HD type layers or the SD type layers saving me a duplication of all those preComps just to change type weight.

    Cheers
