Layer Styles
Hi Guys,
Just confused about Layer Styles.
Why when i apply a layer style can i not see it?
What do i have to do to make Layer Styles visible?I have the issue even when setting up a new composition, writing some text and then applying layer styles.
FYI: Working on AE CS3, MAC OS X

it sounds like you’re expecting to see the layer style in the effects controls, is that right? i remember this surprise 🙂
if so, then what you’re looking for is actually only available in the timeline. you must flyout the layer and just under ‘tranform’ you’ll see ‘layer styles’

Hi Immanuel,
Thanks for your response. What i mean is that when i apply a layer style (i.e. a stroke) to a star or even to text in a composition there is no change to the object in the viewer.
Under Layer Styles, Stroke is selected however the stroke cannot be seen in the viewer.
Your help is very much appreciated!

hm ari, not sure what could cause this unless the setting within the stroke effect made it impossible to see (ie. color was set to equal that of the layer itself or opacity set to 0%, etc..) perhaps if you fiddle with the settings it might magically appear? not sure what could be wrong here though, never had that problem, sorry! 🙁

This happens with all the layer styles and after i have altered the settings.
