I know if I use Grow Bounds, the render time goes way up.
    My question is:
Are the render times affected the same if I use Grow bounds to increase the apparent layer size? Or, is it better to just start with a larger layer made in Photoshop and leave a lot of empty space around the object to allow for certain effects?

    Another related question.
Does the size of a blank solid with no effects change the render times? I tried using Motion Tile to increase the size of the solid. I thought it would reduce render time. It did not seem to help.

These are questions that can best be answered by making comparison tests yourself. 🙂
