    heres my problem:

I have a block of text consisting of 12 lines.
When I apply Invig to the text block using a comp camera everythings great and all the planes are flush.

then I duplicate the Invig layer 12 times
delete one line of text at a time so I end up with 12 separate invig layers making up the text block.

now the 12 separate layers arent flush anymore. They look like they all have diff Z positions?

does deleting a line at a time change some kind of hierarchy in positioning?

    hopefully this makes sense

    thanks in advance

    Hi Mike,

Deleting lines of text would cause the positioning to shift from layer to layer. One solution: replicate the text blocks exactly and make the lines you don’t want to see in each layer invisible – without deleting the objects. I’m thinking this would keep all of your text in proper registration.

    Hi Jon–

I tried duplicating all the layers and then making all lines except the one I need invisible. The layers still stack up incorrectly.

    any other thoughts?

    thanks again

Are they in exactly the same position in Z space?

yes. When the “text wall” is one unit of 12 lines, all lines are in the same Z space.

Studying the problem further, it seems that when I break up the wall into separate lines Invig treats each line as its own object. For instance layer 1 doesnt know there is a layer 2, so the bottom extrusion of layer 1 draws on top of layer 2.

If I didnt have 12 lines of text I could make each layer of the single text wall into a set and animate the set, but Invig only has 8 sets…

    make sense?

    thanks again

What if you didn’t delete the lines, but replaced them with a carriage return?
