    Ok. Very strange thing happening.

I have a thought bubble layer and underneath that a movie clip. i masked the clip (with pen tool) to only show what’s inside bubble. looks great when my camera is zoomed in. when i zoom out though, the masked clip appears to be on top of the thought bubble. I also have a scatterize on the thought bubble, but don’t see how that would cause this weirdness. I have no idea what’s wrong. (both layers are 3D enabled and there is no wiggle or z-position difference) This is newest version of AE: 13.6.0.165

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are two layers — bubble shape layer and movie clip layer with 1 mask. Both are 3D.

    Any other thoughts??

If they are both 3D, you should actually have the bubble outline ever so slightly closer to the camera than the image. If they are at the exact same distance, AE doesn’t know which one is supposed to be in front. 3D layers stacking position depends on their distance from camera, not on the layer order.

That sounded sensical and I was hopeful. But it still didn’t fix it. : (

    VOILA!

Actually, Kalle it worked once i moved the clip to z: 10. I didn’t realize this is the case. I’ve never run into this issue before (except when i had things wiggling in z and they kept popping around in front and back of things). Thank you!
