Lavie Drive Problems
I was just checking to see if anyone out there is having any problems with their Lacie 500gb hard drives. I’ve been using them for a couple of years and within the last 6 months it seems like I’ve been having a lot of problems with them; drives not booting up, drives freezing, lost media. Anyone else out there having these problems?

Sorry to hear that you are having problem with 1 drive.
It might simply be a power supply issue. You should contact our tech support at support@lacie.com.

I have replaced three of these drives. I have called Lacie and they tell me it may be a power cord issue, but I have used a power cord that has been working, and no joy. If your drive is out of warranty and not working, I would suggest getting FW enclosures, and splitting the drives into separate 250 drives. In my cases teh drives were bad, it was the FW bridge.
