Just picked up a Tascam DR-08. OK, I’m not looking for perfect sound (I’d not be able to get it anyway), but just to mic a groom with a lav. I’m wondering if it’s not outrageous to consider using MP3 setting, and if I use the PCM, is 48 really more important (for easy mixing) than 44? Lastly, should I be flying with the low-cut on pretty much permenantly? Just recording for wedding vid, usually has tons of room sound, music and such going on. Sometimes from a lav, sometimes from a mixer.
    Thanks!

Go with a setting of at least 16-bit/44.1kHz and probably keep the LPF on.
