Maybe you audio guys can help me out…
I’m a freelance cameraman who through no fault of his own ends up running audio on video shoots (one man band).
I have a couple of Lectro wireless rigs that work great, and I’ve been using Sony ECM 77’s with them.
One of the 77’s just died, and I’m looking for a replacement.
I have a couple of PSC Millimics that sound great but are IMO really awkward to use re: the clips & windscreens. The windscreen holds the mic to the clip, but it seems they’re always falling off, getting lost, stepped on, etc. etc.
I’ve asked around a little, and have been told that the Sanken lavs & Countryman lavs are worthy investments.
Whatever I buy I’d like to be able to use with the Sony ECM 77 I still have, so it needs to sound a little similar.
Any suggestions welcomed – thanks – and have a nice holiday.

The 77’s are good mics….why not get another one? I like the sound of the Sankens, but they don’t seem to stand up to the rigors of the road well, and I have never been a fan of Countryman mics. I know lots of people swear by them, but they always sound a little muddy to me.
