I think I recall doing this before. I have an audio clip that I imported straight off of CD (as far as I can tell DON’T DO THIS!) Now when I launch the project (with or without the CD in the drive) FCP shows me the “Media Offline” dialogue, then gives me the Spinning Rainbow Wheel of Death.

I would like to launch FCP without it trying to connect to the media, then remove this troublesome clip! Any help??

    Thanks, Chris

Is your footage on an external drive?

The footage isn’t, just the music. I imported it from a CD. If the CD is out, FCP can’t find the media. I’m used to Avid which copies the file to your media drives when you import. Ooops!

I trashed prefs using Larry Jordan’s instructions. All seems to be back in order. I have cut the old music file and imported a copy from my job folder. Can you launch FCP and have it not link to it’s media?

I thought you could, but I may be confused with AE.

[Chris Heuer] ” I imported it from a CD. “

Meaning the media was playing off of a CD? Wow.

Good question that I’m not quite sure of. If I need to do this, I usually just run off my raid, but it won’t help you in this case.
