Would really like some advice on how to manage large projects and on going ones.
We have a client who makes about 4 very retail tvc’s a week on average. i.e. very graphic and effect intensive. We shoot about once or twice a month new footage which gets integrated with old footage quite regularly to make new tvc’s so I thought it would be good to keep everything in the same project for as long as possible (with constant backups of course).
We are only nearing the end of the first month and the project now takes 5 mins to open and about 45-55 secs to save, so I am now thinking I’ll have to do a new project for every tvc and then import old projects into it to use old cuts/fx etc. I then end up with another large project that takes a lot of time to load and save. (a bit like groundhog day)
I realize I may be pushing my system (dual zeon, 1.5gig ram) a bit and understand the “more info/data more time it takes principal” but if I understood more about what makes Premiere go slower I can hopefully make it go faster.
Can anyone help with my workflow?
    All input greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Butch
