Large Preview Stutter
I have recently upgraded system to the following spec:
i7 970 Hex Core @ 3.2GHz
12GB ram @ 1600MHz
Radeon 5770 1GB Graphics
1Tb 7200 RPM drive x2 (RAID 0)
1Tb WD Green drive
500 GB 7200 RPM System Drive
etcI have installed CS4 Production Premium and had been editing with an almost fullscreen preview monitor on my second screen without too much trouble on a Dual Core machine with 2 GB of ram! I have tried this with both SD DV footage and AVCHD footage and it is only when I increase the size of the preview window that it slows down. Any ideas?

Are you sure the green drive is 7200 and not 5400 rpm?
Best is to use only 7200 hard drives and dont partion. -
The green drive as far as i know doesnt have an RPM rating as I believe it varies but I’m pretty sure its not 7200. I havent used that drive yet and intend only to use it for archiving and not editing.

Couple of things to look at:
1. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your Radeon video card.
2. Check where your preview files are being rendered. Make sure it’s not going onto your C: drive, but onto your RAID-0.
