  • Large file transfer causes iMac to freeze/restart

    Hello,

I couldn’t figure out the proper forum to post this in, as I don’t know if its an OS X issue, general file issue, etc. Please let me know if I should post in a different forum.

I have some 4K footage from a GoPro. There are 2 files that, when trying to copy between external hard drives, cause my system to freeze, then restart. They get to 1GB then this happens. Other files are copying fine. These 2 open in QT just fine, but if I try to save them to a new location, export or duplicate, QT won’t do it. I’ve tried using MPEG Streamclip to export to mpeg-4 and it stops at 29%. Am I to assume these are corrupted? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am getting fails transferring large files from PC to Yosemite. I took hard drive out, put it in mac pro, and it worked fine. I think YoseVegemite might have problems with PC networking. If the footage you have is on an ExFat or ntfs drive, it could be this??
