    Hi to all.

Not long ago a French guy said here that he was trying to install AE in English, not in French, because he had learned it that way. A friend of mine here in Spain got AE7 not long ago and I sent him an AE 6.5 project.

No expression worked. None of the expressions that refered to expression control effects or other values of the layer. For instance, if they refer to a value called “Point”, that effect value in AE7 is called “Punto”. That makes me really want to install AE7 in English when I get it, I hope it’s possible.

After checking it out with him, (and discovering AE7 for the first time) I got a little dissapointed. Most of the filter names have changed, and if you work with the transform values, they stay in English, so you have to know their English names. You have to know “anchorPoint” if you want to attach a value to “Punto de anclaje” and others. Bi-lingualism in scripts may make them absolutely impossible to share.

Thins are going to get complicated for us if we want to keep our former projects from older versions in a new language, and if problem this persists between different language versions of the same AE7, we are going to get crazy.

    I agree !
    I’ve bought a french update of AE7… what a pitty !!
The trouble was already in the previous versions of AE.
I can’t load and share easily projects with you…

It’s a strange choice from Adobe not to connect people all over the different countries.

So you had to rewrite the expressions I sent you?

    Damn.

I had entirely forgotten that AE already came in 3 languages before (didn’t it? Eng, Deu, Fra).

I will try to do my best to turn that AE version into English. When I get mine, I know I will need it. I know all filters in English, translations for most words (“Luma Key”) are longer and not always the right translation. In the best cases, even if they are correct, they are not the words I learned a while ago. Just imagine what can happen if you want to download a complex expression by Dan Ebberts and try to understand it before you see it working!

Yes, i had to shortly rename some expressions to point the french name.
But don’t worry… your job was very useful.
It was the same trouble in the previous AE6.5..

For example “slider” to adjust a number becomes in french “curseur”… so even if you have changed the effect’s name, you can not rename the attribut !
    It’s a shame for adobe!
