LameMP3 in Vegas 8
I have the LameMP3 codec installed on my XP machine. “Sounds and Audio Devices Properties” says that “LAME MP3 Codec v0.8.0 – 3.92” is enabled and functioning properly.
Indeed I can hear the audi when I run an AVI file with LAMEMP3 encoded audio on WMP, BUT… when I drag an AVI with LameMP3 audio into my Sony Vegas project from the Explorer or Media Manager tabs, Vegas won’t even create an audio track for it. Video only.
How can I get Vegas to recognize the audio on my LameMP3 AVI files?
I have read lots of similar problems, but have not been able to resolve my specific problem using any of the answers provided.

Try using Super: https://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html.
It should be able to transcode it to another audio format that you can use. It is free. Here is the downloadable exe file.
