Hello! I am kinda new at After effects but every time I press the 0 button at my numpad it takes minutes before even the smallest animation is ready to show, its going 1 frame green bar at a second or something…
How can I speed this up so if I press 0 it just playes..
    Thanks in advance!

Ram preview? How can I do this?
    For the other information…Thanks
But how do you guyes do it, its really annoying if you want to animate a small thing and have to wait for 5 minutes before the whole video launches ( 0 button )

Yeah I understand, but the reason I am asking is that in the tutorial of Video Copilot
( 03 – Adding motion graphics ) from the Designer Sound FX dvd, he presses the button and it happens all in one, no loading or stuff like that…

one other way to speed things up in ae, is to not use formats/codecs that use temporal (or intrerframe) compression… use uncompressed, lossless animation (with compression keyframes off) or image sequences.

when files have interframe compression (like mpeg), ae has to take data from that frame and then other frames to composite the frame you are seeing and then composite the effects, and that can slow things down.
