The problem is that I am now getting almost 1/2 sec. lag from the audio following behind picture. It happens only when I output through the built in speaker output. If I play the audio through my monitor via firewire connection the audio plays fine and is synced on the braodcast monitor. It’s only when I play the audio through the built-in speaker output and view it off the computer where I’m having the problem. It never did this before. I recently upgraded to the universal FCP using the latest OSX on a Dual 2 G5. I also just updated the most recent quicktime and OSX for the pro apps. and this is when I started getting the latency. So I’m wondering if anyone else is having the same problem or if it’s aquicktime receipt issue again.

    Thanks for your time.

    This is fairly common… though I don’t get a half second… maybe more than a few frames…

Make sure your VIEW settings have matched audio to video. So when your video is only showing on the computer your audio is coming thru the computer and when video is going external — make the audio go external.

I send both to a mixer and just switch ins when I change my video.

I have been switching back and forth between viewing via firwire and via the computer. Your right it is a few frames and not a 1/2 second like I had thought but it’s enough to be frustrating. The problem is that it is changing my workflow. It’s not a big deal I would just like it to work the way it used to. It seems like every update changes the workflow in some way somethimes for the good. This one isn’t helping.

    Thanks for the reply
