Activity Forums Adobe After Effects Lagarith

    Hi all,

Other than the obvious limitations – 8 bit only and not compatible with Macs – is there any reason NOT to use Lagarith as my codec in intermediate and final uncompressed renders?
It supports alpha channels, is said to be mathematically lossless and produces significantly smaller file sizes compared to Quicktime Animation and AVI Uncompressed.

    many thanks in advance

I use it (and love it), especially when I’m outputting from Particle Illusion which gives me the alpha channels I need and I have never seen any artifacting with even the ‘smokiest’ of particles.
