    hi

    i just bought a lacie big disk hard drive

    i have a pb g4 1.67 1 gb and fw 800 port

    i followed directions to start up the drive and it mounts

    the problem is that it is constanstly plugging itself in out!

    i get error messages every 30 seconds warning me that the device was not ejected before it was unplugged! but i didnt touch the thing!

    what is going on and help me stop it!!!

    Did you erase and re-initalize it before starting to use it?

    If the drive has a USB port, try connecting through that see if you have a similar problem.
    A friend of mine had to return a LaCie because it had a bad Firewire bus. He encountered the same thing – the drive kept unmounting & re-mounting itself.

    Just a thought.

    I own 5 lacie disks including the 500 gig disk. I’ve had nothing but problems. Lacie BLOWS!

    Very professional statement there. LaCie is a rock solid device when used properly and maintained properly. I’ve been running the Big Disk Extreme for over a year with everything from DV to 10bit uncompressed with no issues. The units move around from system as needed and have not had a hiccup.

    Are the problematic LaCie products out there? Sure, but show me one drive manufacturer that doesn’t. It’s a piece of hardware, it will fail, especially if it’s not taken care of properly.
