I have a LaCie Terabyte drive and have saved about 900 Gb of video and files from Final Cut programs to it for back-up.

When I try to connect the drive to my G5 to retrieve files, the icon shows up momentarily on the desktop, then a window pops up saying the drive was not properly removed and the icon goes away. Then the window goes away and the drive tries again to appear – until the same window pops up again. At this point, nothing I try seems to work.

Has anyone had this happen? What can I try?

Have you talked to LaCie tech support yet? They’re great folks.

Sounds to me like the drive was shut down improperly or disconnected without being powered off at some point.

    Walter:

Called LaCie. I had a power supply connected to the Terabyte drive that was too small. The supply that came with the unit works just fine now. Lesson learned (and luckily I didn’t damage data – or damage the other supply).

    Thanks,

    Wally

Awesome, love to hear that it’s something simple and you would have gone crazy if we kept throwing out suggestions to you on here. LaCie and AJA both have outstanding tech support departments so I always recommend going directly to them first if you’re having an issue that stops you from working.
