I’m considering buying a LaCie 4big Quadra Enterprise Class external RAID drive to hook into my
MacBook Pro for HD (1920×1080) processing on Final Cut Pro and Adobe After Effects.
Is this drive fast enough to handle those size files in those apps (without stuttering).
Also, should the apps remain on my internal HD, (2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor with
4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 Memory), or should they be moved to the external RAID drive for peak performance?
    Thanks much.

The drive is fast enough over FW800 to handle ProRes 422 HQ easily. Over FW800, it’s about as fast as an internal 7200rpm drive on MBP, and a bit faster than a 5400rpm one.
