Anybody out there using the Lacie 4 Big Quadra in serous ProRes HD editing? The price per TB is so tempting, but I’m wondering if it’s a YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR” situation. I’m about to start two huge projects and only have 24 gigs left on my internal SATA drives. I’ve been looking at all the Cow advertisers and LaCie seems to have the least expensive RAID at the speeds I need. I’m very much aware of the issue of drives vanishing from the desktop in firewire setups, but this would be esata.
    Thanks in advance

Hey Don. I’ve used LaCie for quite some time and honestly have never really had an issue with them. The Firewire drive issues revolve around those units that auto power on and off which was always very silly.

These days I rely heavily on the guys at MaxxDigital. They sell their own branded products and a host of other companies as well. Get yourself a RAID 5 box so you’re fully protected. I personally like the Maxx EVO 2HD units, but they have stuff to fit every budget.
