  Krita 8 is now out!

  Krita 2.8 is now officially out! A large number of new features have been added. Some that stand out are:

  – custom tablet drivers that work with just about any tablet out there – and are much more precise and increase drawing performance quite a bit
  – New high-quality scaling mode for the OpenGL canvas: beautiful new anti-aliasing engine for the opengl view, resulting in excellent quality even when zooming out
  – Wrap Around mode for easy repeated seamless texture and pattern painting
  – Pseudo Infinite canvas (never run out of canvas while drawing)
  – Initial support for G’mic (https://gmic.sourceforge.net/index.shtml)
  – clone array tool

  And many other improvements and new features like palette dockers, isolate layer or mask mode, and so on.
  For video-minded users the most common templates have been included.

  Krita has become a very impressive 2d drawing and painting application, and greatly compliments photoshop and other image editors.

  The Windows version is now stable. It is quite mind-blowing this is an open source and free application – painting *is* much of an improvement over Photoshop. Krita supports 6/16/32bpc and rgb/cmyk/lab modes.

  ps: opengl acceleration is by default turned off: turn it on for best performance in the preferences.
