I’ve been using a Kona2 & KBox for the last month and loving it. However, I’ve been using a Tascam FW1082 control surface – i/o to monitor audio. Because “audio follows video” I should use the Kona2 for the audio output. However, the Kona is AES, and the Tascam is SPDIF (coax), so I ordered an AES/coax converter (Hosa CDL-313). After resetting all my audio outputs/pref’s in FCP (and Audio Midi/Device setup) to Kona2, I’m getting nothing. ‘lil help?
    Thanks.

Figured it out. The Tascam unit needs to act as a slave (Monitor/mix mode) before it can return to controlling and monitoring, through the Kona2. It still seems a bit ‘lucky’, but if the settings are proper, and the sound is doing what it’s supposed to…
    Thanks anyway.

I use the tascam FW1884 and really like it. However the jog control of the Mackie was far superior- the tascam doesnt like jogging single frames.

I totall agree. I use a contour shuttle pro for jogging.

I have the shuttle pro as well. All I can say is that the Mackie was so much better than the shuttlepro.

I’ll second that. The Mackie plays very well with FCP…and mixing shows is SO much easier with it. I’m glad I didn’t spend the money on a shuttle pro. Mackie’s transport controls are great.
I just wish Apple would open up more functionality with the MCU…plug in parameter control, etc. Hopefully in future updates.
