Kona oddities
Hi there,
Just got an Aja Kona LHe with breakout box for an Intel mac. We had to get this to interface with our Panasonic AJ-D960 Pro50 deck. (the old card was a Blackmagic in a G5).
I’m a bit new to all this so bear with me, I kinda inherited looking after the edit machines when I started my current job.So, I’ve tried to hook everything up the same as it was with the BM card. I have SDI in/outs, RS 422 lead (manufactured from a cat5e lead as described in one of Bob Zelin’s posts) and ref video going to the deck. The other ref video BNC on the breakout has a terminator on it as described in the manual.
On the other side ofcourse the SDI in/outs are hooked up correctly with the Aja lead going to the card.I can seem to get playback to the deck from Final Cut no problemo, but capture goes all wacky. As soon as you bring up the capture window, the screen starts flashing an intermittent green glitch. Playback from a tape is visible and the machine control seems to work fine, but it keeps glitching as it plays along.
I’ve tried a LOT of things and read quite a bit to get this to work. It all seems to me to be set correctly. The machine control is set to Panasonic RS 422, I have everything set to PAL 625i50 etc (I’m in Australia).
Anyone got any ideas? Sorry if I haven’t supplied enough Final Cut details – I didn’t want to make this post a short novel!
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks,
Will
