I just installed a Kona LS yesterday. Everything is fine excepting for the syncro signal that seems to disappear suddenly. I have a Horita BSG-50 black burst generator connected to the Ref. Video port on the BetacamSP deck with the 75? in off. Then, when I’m recording something normally, the monitor shows that black line dividing the screen! That line does not appear when I play back the cassette, but that’s not supposed to happen.
    Any solutions?

We’ve had the same problems. Do you have a component monitor? We solved our sync problems by running the “component out” directly from the Kona card to the monitor, and then from the monitor to the UVW-1800. We plugged the Horita into one of the reference inputs, ran a cable from the other reference inputs to one of the video inputs beneath it, and plugged the “reference in” cable to the Kona card into the other video connection.

I know this sounds like giberish. Give me a call at (662) 325-2309 and we can actually talk.

If you use the BSG-50, you MUST use a 75 ohm terminator on the AJA I/O REF Input, and you MUST put the 75 ohm term switch to ON on the VTR. IF you don’t have a 75 ohm terminator – then go to the IO first, loop out of the IO Ref input, and go into the
Beta Ref Video IN, and TERMINATE the line with the 75 ohm switch to ON. YOU MUST terminate the Horita BSG-50 for it to work properly.

Yes, the monitor is a component monitor. When you say “ran a cable from the other reference inputs to one of the video inputs beneath it” you mean beneath the monitor or beneath the VTR?

And Bob, I’m not using the iO anymore. It’s gone to another edit room. I’m missing it!

    Bob,

I’m not using an AJA iO anymore. I’m using an AJA Kona LS
