Thank you Creative Cow members in advance for reading/responding to my post.

Currently I have a MacPro 2.26ghz, Aja Kona LHI breakout box and a TV Logic LVM-172W Broadcast monitor setup. The broadcast monitor is hooked up to the AJA breakout box via HDMI converted to DVI. My problem is that I am unable to calibrate the broadcast monitor correctly. I am calibrating using brightness, contrast, bluegun, color and hue and I believe I understand to proper way to use those controls.

I tried using smpte bars from Final Cut Pro, and I tried exporting bars from Avid Express Pro and imported them into FCP for output to the broadcast monitor. For some reason, no matter how much I adjust the contrast or brightness, I can’t get the three smpte pluge bars to separate. They all stay the same black color. So the picture looks somewhat muddy. This is a brand new monitor. Is there something else I can do to properly calibrate this monitor?

Thank you so much for your thoughts.

    Eddie

    Thank you very much.

[Eddie Stein] “he broadcast monitor is hooked up to the AJA breakout box via HDMI converted to DVI. “

    Why not HDSDI?

The wrong cable was ordered but I Thought HDMI was OK. Is it not OK?

HDMI is ok, but perhaps the DVI connection on the monitor isn’t. Try hooking it up HDSDI and see if it works.
