We just purchased a Mac OS X with a Kona LHe board. Currently we need to capture footage from 3 sources: Beta SP (UVW-1800), Beta SX (DNW-65) and DV (FROM CAMERA). Our only required output (at this time) is to the Beta SP.

My initial setup uses the Kona Component in and out to the Beta SP in and out with the RS-422 remote hooked up, SX SDI out to Kona SDI in (USB serial adapter?), and then firewire for the DV. Right now I can’t find the right USB adapter and cable connection to control the SX deck. But I think I just found out that even if I did, I would still have to use the Kona Control Panel to change video input instead of the simpler Capture/Input in FCP. Any suggestions on an easier setup or another way of working with this edit bay? Do we need the Kona breakout box?

    Thanks

Just pick up an RS-422 switch box or router. You run both decks into that, then the box into the Kona. You simply switch the box between the two decks. OR, simply purchase two RS-422 cable and switch the cable at the Kona LHe to make the switch.

Look at http://www.markertek.com for a switch box or small RS-422 router.
