    Any advice?

Going to Mac OS X 10.4.8 running FCP 5.1.2 through Aja Kona v3.1 from a J-H3 Sony Hdcam to Online something (exchange SD footage for HD preferrably 10-bit). The Aja Kona control panel flickers when it shows the connection from my SDI input 1080sf23.98 to “No Video”. When it appears to lock the video to the computer for a enough time to batch capture, when I open the “Batch Capture” or the “Log and Capture” the whole computer crashes.

    Methods tried:
    Already discarded prefs
checked hardware with both breakout box and breakout cable direct to G-5
    No feedback looping
SD/Analog connection works fine (doing HD online though so doesn’t help)
5 TB of storage – correct scratches selected.
Easy setup both 8 and 10 bit setups tried.
Exported the EDL out of FCP converted from 29.97 to 23.98 in Cinema Tools. Imported fine into new HD 8 bit sequence. When select capture it then crashes.
Thought it was the FCP timeline so cleaned it down to the bone – no transitions, no speed change, no through edits, noda….

Please help this weekend as the deck goes back, Monday. Thought that it may be the deck since it flickers, but everything plays great out of the analog outs.

    Thx for the advice: Bob

Suppose your k box connection or card needs reseating? Sort of sounds like it does.

you need to be on the current versions of the Kona Drivers for the OS and FCP versions you are running.

do you see the correct settings on the Kona control panel when video is being played back?

not all of the J-h3 decks come set to handle 23.98 footage- can you see the footage being played out of the deck onto a monitor, if not that maybe your culprit I have only seen the control panel “flicker” when the correct video signal was not properly being played out via the deck.

Just because the analog pots are working does not mean the digital ones are working.

    did you change cables?

    Jerry ,

OMG, you rock…that’s exactly it. Looks like when they set up the “turn-key” solution they cracked the PCI slot. Looks like I can limp along with what I got now.

Thanks for your help everyone, this one is wrapped…
