    My SYSTEM

MAC dual G5 2.5 gig. 6.5 gb RAM.
    Apple 23″ display / Samsung 17″ LCD / Panasonic BT-LH2600WP
    Blackmagic Decklink Extreme card v5.2.4
    OSX Tiger w/10.4.3 upgrade
    FCP 5 w/ 5.0.4 upgrade = production Suite
    1 300gig scratch disc
    500GB G-Raid Firewire800
    Decks = Beta-SP, DVCpro, DigiBeta.
Audio Mix = Mackie 1604 VLZpro
I believe I have the stock display card
    Panasonic AJD-230H DVCpro deck

You can see by my system I need a PCIx card. How will the Kona LH do for me just with the breakout cables? I can’t afford to upgrade to a MAC Quad now. Am I wasting my money? Anyone have this board?
    Thanks in Advance

    Ok
a bit of advice here, this is a great product, but your computer is at least 2 years old and you are adding a board that cannot be used in the advent that you update to the newer mac’s (which are now intel) . The AJA board and the Decklink will not work together either.

I have both E and X versions of the LH, I love them both and use them daily.

    Hi Ed –
you can see my stupid answers to you on the Blackmagic forum. You just bought a VERY EXPENSIVE Panasonic HD monitor. I have to assume that ONE JOB will pay for your Kona LH card, so why lose jobs because you don’t have an HD card. The great answer (as I stupidly put on the Blackmagic forum) is the combo of the AJA I/O and the Kona 2, but the Kona LH is great if you DONT need up conversion from HD. I don’t see why this is a waste of money if you have pending HD jobs that you have to do – and you already bought a $5000 TV monitor.

If you plan to wait out the Mac Pro bugs (as I am), the LH will serve you fine. I have a similar setup to yours. The LHx is running fine for me on my dual 2Ghz.
As Bob noted, one job should pay for it…it does SD and HD. All the card you’ll ever need as long as you don’t need the upconvert features, etc…
The BOB is nice, but it mirrors the cables. Its a little messier, but it works. I think the only thing missing is the extra RCA monitor outputs…. but with the Mackie in the mix, you won’t need it.
