I’ve been looking to find a way to output a letterboxed version of my final edit to Beta. My original elements are DVCam (16:9) into a DV timeline (16:9 anamorphhic). I’m running FCP 5.1.2, Mac OS 10.4.8, Dual 1.8 G5 with Kona LH (3.3).

I can get the leterboxed version by creating a 4:3 sequence and placing my 16:9 final clip or sequence, but it requires some rendering on my G5, and wonder if there is a way to directly output from the Kona. The extra step also brings some of my video levels just aboove legal.

The secondary output from the Kona can be set to letterbox, but Final Cut Pro seems to use only the primary output. I tried using Kona TV to output the final clip, but with the same results (full screen anamorphic image).

    Anybody have experience?

K2 can do this on the fly with the latest verison of the driver.

This is an excellent feature that will save you time and hard drive space.
