With Final Cut Studio (version 6.02) what system settings seem to work best with being able to work with After Effects rendered movies. The Kona people recommended using the Apple Prores 422 (HQ) (because we’ll use up space too quickly with uncompressed). The Kona recommended the prores because it was 10bit at PhotoJPEG file size.

Also, is there a Prores codec that After Effects can output to? We hate having to render every AE file out in Final Cut.

    thanks,

Do you mean ProRes on a PC? No, you will have to use something else such as SheerVideo from bitjazz.

If you are using AE on a Mac and have FCP installed on it, you can use ProRes on there no problems.

    Jeremy,

Ah… But what if you DON’T have Final Cut on the system? We have it on two systems but not 2 others and we can’t open up their movies on the ones without.

    thanks,

ProRes is a codec like any other.
