March 12, 2009 at 2:16 pmIf you have multiple systems, and most of us do, then you only need to download the update once and you can pass it around to all of your systems to be updated – Intel and PowerPC.

March 12, 2009 at 2:17 pm[jason levy] “Hey Jeremy.. why would that yield a result different that from Software Update? “
I honestly don’t know for sure, bud. I would imagine that there’s differernt components and frame works that get updated differently since it’s a combo update and is looking for older versions of the OS (10.5.4 or earlier). I am sorry, I don’t know much about software on that level. Supposedly if you were having issues with 10.5.6, a combo update solved it.
I have done the combo update on my laptop and all is running okay with a minor hiccup, I think 10.5.6 makes some PCIe stuff go weird. It also had broken Shotput Pro but Imagine Products sent me a new build that fixes it. So there’s definitely something different about 10.5.6.

March 12, 2009 at 5:27 pmSpent the day editing yesterday with Kona 3 6.03 updates on an 8-core with OS X 10.5.6 & QT 7.6. This is on a SAN set up by Mr. Zelin. All works flawlessly. Did not notice any problems. This is on FCP 6.0.5 by the way.

March 13, 2009 at 5:57 amI tried installing the Kona LH 6.03 drivers on my G5 Tiger 10.4.11 machine today (latest FCP), and it didn’t work. After rebooting, it came up with the red “hardware offline” message in the AJA Control panel. Since I had a project I was working on I just went back to 6.02 with no problems. I’m just glad the 6.03 uninstaller worked!

March 13, 2009 at 3:03 pmHave you tried the NDD version of the driver? I know that some of the G5s were having issues with the Mac Desktop feature in the AJA Control Panel.

March 17, 2009 at 6:07 pmJust an FYI, we had a problem installing on a Leopard install. We would get an Install Error when we tried to install WITH the additional presets. When we installed with just the “Base” settings, 6.0.3 installed fine. AJA tech support know about this.

March 17, 2009 at 11:34 pmHas anybody tested the feature for preserving closed captioning? That would have been a ife saver at my last gig.

The preserving CC data on conversion is part of the code base from aja incredibly popular FSI rack converter. This is not something that is normally found in a product like a capture card.
This is the only product I am aware of that maintains the CC data integrity during the up / down / cross conversion via hardware during capture or playback.
