Here I am in the AJA Kona CP and in the CONTROL tab I see DEFAULT VIDEO OUTPUT, and it has the option for DESKTOP…but it won’t select it. I try and it snaps back to TEST PATTERN. I can choose black, but then try Desktop again and it goes back to black.

I used to be able to do this…any reason why I can’t now?

I have to get temp video onto a DVD (sent to us in DAT format that I can open in VLC player) so that we can have the producer view and order selects from the master. Yeah, I know…DAT format. We are getting a lot of these horrid TEMP formats from people. Those, links to FLASH videos on the internet…stupid stuff. Mainly because the people are in far off lands and don’t want to send anything other than a DAT file or link to flash video.

So I have to get creative when getting this footage.

The 5.1 NDD drivers disable the dekstop video out due to a bug.

    From AJA.com:

“This 5.1 NDD version is recommended for OS X 10.5.2 users. Note: The AJA
KONA driver version 5.1 NDD is the same as driver version 5.1, but removes
    the Macintosh Desktop Display feature.

With the regular version of the 5.1 driver, some users may experience issues with Quartz Extreme, the behavior of their computer displays, and in some cases, kernel panics may occur with certain graphics cards installed. If any of the issues mentioned occur, the driver version 5.1 NDD should be used instead of version 5.1. Driver version 5.1 NDD is also the recommended version for use with the latest Intel Xserve with Xeon 5400 series processors, model (MA882LL/A).”
