July 5, 2006 at 10:59 pmFormat is mostly DVCProHd 720p/24 and 1080i/24. Will do HD Cam work as well. It lookas if the Blackmagic has more versatility as far as inputs go and it seem to monitor with DVI out. I’ve always been an AJA fan but can only spend this money once.
Thanks for your input.

July 5, 2006 at 11:13 pmOne nice thing KONA 3 gives you is HD upconversion from SD, Multibridge doesn’t offer this.

July 5, 2006 at 11:30 pmI’d double check if blackmagic supports downcoversion of 720p24 (it used to not be supported when I used blackmagic products). I’d also double check if donwconversion is supported for 1080/24.
I have had great luck with AJA products. They also do upconvert if you need that feature, currently BM does not.

July 6, 2006 at 8:18 amBought the Kona 3! Also bought the G5 Quad and my vendor is going to take it back soon when the new G5 **** is released. Will use my Io for analog conversion into K3 to uprez. Talked to Rudy at AJA today, is he cool or what. Honest and wants to help. And best of all after a long absence, I got to gear from TONY!….I’m gonna meet you one day and we’ll realize we’ve met before.

July 6, 2006 at 4:29 pmHey Don,
Thanks for the kind words. I’m sure we’ll meet one day (if we haven’t already). I’m usually at NAB, DV Expo, MacWorld, etc so that might be when it happens. In the meantime, I feel like I know so many people that I’ve never met because of the Cow. Its hard to imagine life without my Creative Cow family.
Rudy at AJA is the coolest
