Kona 3 Control Panel Default
I posted this in an old thread but not sure if anyone saw it so I’m opening up another, as it’s becoming a little troublesome.
Having trouble working out if there is a way to set a default output of the AJA control panel. Currently, when you exit Final Cut, the Panel seems to default to NTSC and colour bars. Even when you set the “test pattern” to be BLACK, it goes to colour bars. We have 4 systems running the same card and set up and it happens on ALL machines.
The panel literally says “test pattern” “Black” but still it displays colour bars.
I can save presets though and they work fine, but it’s a hassle to have to engage that and then carry on with whatever else you were doing. (eg. after effects, email, photoshop or whatever)
But is there any way to get the preset to become the “default”?
Any ideas?

That’s weird. When I set the test pattern and format, the Control Panel stays there until I change it.
Before you open FCP, open the Control Panel, then set it the way you want it, then open FCP and when you quit out, it should remain.
If it doesn’t, you should trash the Kona Control Panel prefs: userfolder > Library > Preferences > com.aja.KonaControlPanel.plist
and try again.

ooo oooo oooo – I think I know the answer – and the only reason I think I know the answer is that you said that you have 4 systems, and they are all doing it.
You have a network setup at your place, and none of the FCP systems have administrative privlidges (spelling !). I had this happen at a TV station, and when I called AJA to ask what was going on, they had me trash some preferences, and I was not allowed to trash the preferences, because I was not the administrator. If you do not have admin prividleges, it will not remember your Control Panel settings (especially when you reboot the computer, and login as the user that you are).
Log in as the admin, and you will have no issue.
