Kona 2 SD ntsc down-convert problem.
Worked all weekend on this booger and still not sure what is going on.
We have one of the Sonly L-series monitors that auto switches ntsc/pal and displays both SD and HD so we know the external monitor is good. It displays fine in a native HD or native SD project.
With Dvcpro100 hd 1080/60i footage and FCP5 and Kona 2 set likewise ntsc playback on our external monitor is fine when all is set to hd.
With Dvcpro100 hd 1080/50i footage and FCP5 and Kona 2 set likewise pal playback on our external monitor is fine when all is set to hd…Also pal sd down-convert to 625i displays perfectly whith Kona-2 set to down-convert in pal.
Now the problem and back to Dvcpro100 hd 1080/60i ntsc. When we set Kona-2 to down-convert to 525i SD ntsc the monitor freaks and it looks like the field order is way off.
Originally we were working with native pal ftg. converted to ntsc with Nattress Standards Converter so we thought that might be the problem. So this morning I grabbed some of the
Dvcpro100 hd ntsc footage off the Panasonic dvd that shpped with FCP. Same thing…HD displays fine, the SD down-convert off the Kona-2 jumps around.NTSC down-convert setting are: Format 525i 29.97, letterbox, Component (beta), 7.5 IRE.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated, thank you.
