    Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum and new to After Effects as well. I am a fan of retro television from the 70’s. I saw the opening sequence to Kojak and it was amazing. Just curious to know if I would be able to recreate this in After Effects, and how I would go about doing it. Thank you for any help you can provide. Who loves you, baby?

    Here is the opening sequence:

    I appreciate you all!

This would be pretty easy to do. Read up on track mattes if you haven’t used them.

You make the animated moving bars using shape layers or even just animated strokes, then use those animations as mattes that reveal the underlying footage.

As I said, if you are new to AE, read up on or look up tutorials on track mattes. (And be careful not to your lollypop on the keyboard.)

Thank you for your help! Everybody I asked before told me how hard it would be to recreate!
