Knox RS 16X16 HB “re-setting”
Hi all,
Have a knox RS 16 HB switcher that intermittently re-sets itself (briefly seems to turn on and off). The settings / routes return as previously set, but it causes all 3 broadcast channels to go black for a second.
I am thinking the power supply is going. My partner here suggested that the Knox has a button battery that might be going bad – but I don’t think it would then save the settings.
The problem actually began as an occasional re-set when you entered a manual swith on the front panel. Now it is doing it on the hour or so, then stops for a while – then continues. Disconnecting serial control has no affect.

perhaps it’s time for a new router.
This is an analog router, correct ? You can get a Kramer 16×16 for about 3 grand, that will be more reliable than the Knox.
If you were SDI (which I guess you are not), you could choose from the wonderful Blackmagic or AJA family, for the same price.Bob ZElin

We have found the Knox switchers to be very reliable.Also,The Knox technical service I have found to be great.Even if your 16X16 is out of warrenty,they have a great staff thats always willing to help.Contact them at https://www.knoxvideo.com/ and click on tech support.
