This thread either signifies the end of the recession or the end of business as we know it. Either way, when the longest thread of the year is about the Christmas Holidays, you know everybody here is definitely ready to kiss 2009 goodbye.

Herb, Ron, I think it’s somewhere in my profile, but I think it true, that if your ipod has more dead people on it than living, you’re either pretty old, or very eclectic. I have a little opera and 1 or 2 country songs and a very little amount of rap on there, as well as chamber music, lounge music, rock, lots of reggae, and plenty of 70’s disco, and 80’s punk. Cecelia Bartoli’ next to Dead Kennedys next to Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain next to Bach and Gershwin next to Blue Man Group next to Don Ho next to Carmen Miranda next to… well, you get the idea. And it can be quite entertaining and inspiring to smash them together in playing order, randomly.
I find I have a low tolerance for honkey-tonk and bluegrass, can only take it in small doses, and most rap I just can’t care for, especially anything mis-using auto-tune to wax eloquent about prostitution and drugs and murder, but I have a lot more R&B and soul and jazz music. My ipod only holds 4 gigs and it is always heartbreaking to rotate a new song in because I have to take a beloved favorite out. Hoping to score a used 32 gig classic for the holidyas or a birthday, though really there is no such thing as enough storage space for music; you WILL fill it to capacity, whatever that capacity is….

I now have a 120GB and it too is maxed. No room. I am waiting for the terabyte model. Then I’ll be happy for a little while.

I TOTALLY should have done LED’s this year! We’ve got our Christmas tree on a turntable and in order to power the lights without plugging in, I rigged a 12v golf cart battery to an inverter. Problem is, with 500 incandescent bulbs, she only runs for a couple of hours before needing a recharge. With LED lights, she’d probably go all night… hmmm, where did you pick yours up, Mark?

Except that I know we’re going to have even more fun next year. It’s just been an incredible year and I find myself very blessed to be in the position I’m in.
