Kinetic Typography Short Cuts?
Hey all,
So I am working on several 20 minute long typography videos where EACH WORD comes in separately. The style is very simple. Currently this is my workflow:
1. Create Ai files 1400×1400 pixels for each paragraph of the script. Separating each word, and creating the final design of the words. Usually I will have about 5 “boards” per Ai File.
2. Bring all 58 Ai files into AfterEffects.
3. Separate and line up the individual boards within each Ai file.
4. Time out the words to the audio file
5. Keyframe each word to enter frame or exit. Most of the time, the words come in separately and leave all together. Only keyframes used are position, scale and rotation.
6. Export
I came to this workflow basically alone so I am hoping to find out that I am doing it the long way? An 18 minute typography of this style takes me about 54 hours to complete. Any help would be great!

Using AE’s built-in text animators might be one solution. It sounds like you could just build the text in After Effects and then tweak one of the text Animation Presets according to your needs–there are some that automatically animate words in separately.
